You can now stay in a mountain lodge or a vintage-style trailer in Hatta

The mountainous area has just reopened as an eco-tourism destination

The spaced-out Damani Lodges are now open, and have barbecue facilities and a bonfire

The 10-year Hatta Development plan is coming to fruition, with airstream-style trailer accommodation and lodges opening today in the Hajar Mountains, 115 kilometres from Dubai City.

The new accommodation options are inside Hatta National Park, nestled next to the mountains and Hatta Dam, and will be surrounded by adventure activities.

Prices range from Dh30 for a go on the climbing wall or axe throwing, to Dh200 for an hour of mountain bike coaching (see the full price list here).

Hatta Sedr Trailers

This is the first trailer-style hotel in the UAE - each trailer has its own terrace, and there is a common fire pit and communal barbecue facilities. The trailers look out to Hatta Dam, and come with a kitchenette too. Rates start from Dh250 a night. You can book here.

Hatta Damani Lodges 

The huts feel like private retreats, but also start from only Dh250 per night. There are three levels of cabins, and they have their own private terraces, as well as a communal bonfire and barbecue facilities. You can book those here.

Plus, you can also head to the Hatta Campsite if you're after camping rather than glamping.

What is there to do around the area?

As well as the hotels, this week also marks the opening of Hatta Wadi Hub, an adventure base where you can find both paid and free activities that range from mountain bike (MTB) coaching and rentals, to downhill mountain biking, downhill carting, a human sling shot, axe throwing, archery, freefall jumps, adventure rope courses, a rope bridge, wall climbing, kids and adult’s trampolines, as well as twin and kids zip lines. You can also just hike or kayak around the area.

Another new element is Hatta Drop-In, a water park with crazy slides and 'drop-in' donuts.

A boutique 'riad' hotel is coming soon too 

While this week marks a lot of openings, there is more to come to the Hatta area: Riad Hatta will be a boutique hotel designed around a central courtyard, using materials that blend with the nature of the mountainous part of Dubai. The hotel is slated to open in the last quarter of 2019.

The old heritage village in the area is also being redeveloped - where there will be a majlis for senior citizen Emiratis from the area to get together and share their stories and knowledge with other generations.

The developer of the project, Meraas, is also working with Dubai Municipality on methods to protect the waterbodies in the area.
