Ordinarily, the 150-second ride strapped to the world's longest zipline would cost you Dh682. This summer, however, thrill-seekers can take on the Jebel Jais zipline in RAK for less than half that, at Dh341, including VAT.
The offer is part of the I Found Ras Al Khaimah campaign, which seeks to promote the various spots and attractions in the emirate, and is led by its Tourism Development Authority.
As sites and scenes go, it's hard to beat the view from the 2.83-kilometre zipline, which is suspended 1,680 metres in the sky. Of course, this is assuming your eyes are open as you traverse the chasm of the mountain at speeds of 120kph to 150kph.
The zipline opened in February 2018, taking the title of the world's longest from the 2.5km Monster Zipline in Puerto Rico. It attracts a host of adrenalin junkies from all over the world, and the summer discount is good chance to tick this off your adventure bucket list.
Tickets are available here, and Jebel Jais Tours provides a complimentary shuttle service from Ras Al Khaimah City, the Al Hamra area and Al Marjan Island.
Other than the steep, rocky Jebel Jais terrain, Ras Al Khaimah is known for its unspoilt beaches, colourful marine life, nature trails, observation decks overlooking the Hajar Mountains, desert activities and golf courses.
For a touch of culture, visit the Heritage Corner at the Ritz-Carlton, which has a display of 500-plus stamps from the 1960s and 1970s, most dating back to before the unification of the UAE.
