Travellers planning to book flights with Etihad can now do so via EasyJet as the Abu Dhabi airline has partnered with the low-cost carrier. The move increases the number of destinations that Etihad and EasyJet customers can secure in a single booking for travel between Europe, Africa, the Azores and the UAE. Passengers travelling to or from the UAE with Etihad can purchase flight tickets on the EasyJet website where there are connections available to 68 different cities across the British airline's network. All Etihad flights booked via EasyJet connect from one of ten European gateways including Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, Geneva, Madrid, Manchester, Milan and Zurich. Etihad said the partnership is the first example of it using 'new distribution capability' technology. This new technology will allow Etihad to consider more partnerships with other airlines in the future which will open up more destinations to itspassengers. Travellers using the EasyJet website to book travel in and out of the UAE will be given flight options sourced via a combination of Etihad and EasyJet fights. The search engine will return flight combinations that were previously not possible on either of the airline's websites. "This new collaboration between two great brands is a logical leap forward for both our companies. EasyJet is a perfect launch partner for us in Europe, allowing us to reliably increase the breadth of our continental reach to and from Abu Dhabi," said Ali Saleh, vice president of Etihad Airway's Alliances and Partnerships. "We're excited to announce our partnership with Etihad Airways, which opens up Abu Dhabi as a destination to our passengers and more of Europe to Etihad," added Rachel Smith, head of commercial partnerships at EasyJet. Both airlines plan to expand the partnership to include more destinations in the future.
