World Wrestling Entertainment has taken on its first female talent from the Middle East: Shadia Bseiso of Jordan.
Earlier this year, Bseiso attended the WWE’s invitation-only talent tryout in Dubai with a pool that consisted of 40 men and women from the Middle East and India with diverse backgrounds in sports and athletics.
“It is an honour to be the first-ever woman from the Middle East to sign with WWE,” Bseiso said. “Working with WWE is an incredible opportunity.
"I have visited the Performance Center and attended the Mae Young Classic. I have personally witnessed the power of WWE and the passion of WWE fans. I look forward to starting on my path to becoming a WWE Superstar.”
Bseiso was born in Jordan and attended university in Lebanon. She is currently a voice-over artist and TV presenter based in Dubai. She is also trained in Brazilian ju-jitsu and is a CrossFit enthusiast.
She will train at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, from next January. The Performance Center is used to help upcoming wrestlers hone their skills through strength and conditioning programmes as well as physical preparedness and character development with hopes of making it on to the main roster.
Some of WWE’s biggest superstars currently on their main roster have come from the Performance Center and include Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Sasha Banks, Enzo Amore, Charlotte Flair and Bayley.
WWE’s executive vice president of talent, live events & creative, Paul "Triple H" Levesque said: “Recruiting Shadia to join our developmental system underscores WWE’s ongoing commitment to building a talent roster as diverse as our fan base.
“We’re confident Shadia will help inspire future WWE Superstars, as we continue to recruit the most talented athletes and entertainers from around the world.”
Bseiso will join a roster of international talent who hail from a variety of countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
