She might be known for helping to put some Indian designers on the fashion map, but Priyanka Chopra is also known to pluck a label from this region from time to time.
Case in point: the Quantico actress selected a gown from the line of emerging Saudi name Hondaya this weekend, which she wore as part of the pre-wedding festivities for brother-in-law Joe Jonas and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.
Chopra donned the shimmering metallic dress to a dinner, held in the south of France, where Jonas and Turner tied the knot on Saturday.
The button-front dress with tie-arm details comes from the Saudi label's spring / summer 2019 collection.
There is no denying the soft sheen of the dress is remarkably pretty against the stone walls of the building, and was certainly a good choice.
If the name Hondaya sounds familiar, it’s because it is the same designer worn recently by actress and style star Lupita Nyong’o.
The label is the work of Honayda Serafi, who was born and raised in Saudi. Hailing from an artistic family – her mother is a fashion and art historian, and her father is a well-known patron – Serafi studied Islamic art before decamping to Paris to study fashion at Parsons.
In a nod to her Arab heritage, Serafi gave her own name to her fledgling label, with Honayda meaning sword's sheath in Arabic.
Chopra was accompanied in France by her husband, Nick Jonas, for the wedding, which was held at the 18th-century Chateau De Tourreau.
Turner and Jonas, who married legally at A Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, following the Billboard Music Awards on May 2, were surrounded by friends and family as they said their ‘I dos’ again.
Other famous faces at the wedding included Turner's best friend, Game of Thrones co-star and reported maid of honour, Maisie Williams, as well as model Ashley Graham.
