Prince Louis turns one: British royals celebrate with three cute new photos

The three smiling portraits were taken by the Duchess of Cambridge in the family's Norfolk garden

It's Prince Louis's first birthday today, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released three new photos of the young prince to celebrate.

The newly released set of images were taken by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in the garden of the family's Anmer Hall home in Norfolk, England.

The photos feature the one-year-old in a red knit and a blue jumper, with a dog embroidered on the front.

With two new teeth and blonde hair, he is seen with a big smile, and happily playing in the grass in two of the photos.

“He really is the most cheerful, smiley little boy,” a royal source has said of the young prince. “He’s always so happy and content.”

This isn't the first time the Duchess of Cambridge has been behind the lens of relaxed family images that have been released.

The mother-of-three captured the images of a two-week-old Louis released last May, to celebrate Princess Charlotte's third birthday.

Prince Louis was born on April 23, 2018, at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London.

The newest photos are some of the first of Louis looking a little more grown up. He seems to have his brother Prince George's blonde hair, but looks unmistakably like big sister, Princess Charlotte.

Unlike Prince George, who is often compared to Princess Diana, royal watchers have said Louis is the first of the Cambridge children to look like a mini-Michael Middleton, the duchess's father, particularly in the family's 2018 Christmas card photo:
