The National Day fireworks display and live concert set to take place at Dubai's The Pointe this evening have been cancelled.
Organisers cited safety reasons for the cancellation of the show which was set to commence at 9pm on December 2 at the Palm Fountain.
"Due to safety precautions, all firework display shows at The Palm Fountain will be cancelled until further notice. Furthermore, the live orchestra will no longer perform as expected," said a statement issued by organisers.
The Palm Fountain's new showAim for the Sky will continue as planned from 6pm tonight. It features 128 fountain jets dancing along to the latest piece by Emirati composer Ihab Darwish. It will not be accompanied by a live orchestra as previously advertised.
On Instagram, The Pointe informed users that "the firework show was cancelled due to new regulations imposed." No further information was given on what those regulations were.
The announcement came after entertainment scheduled to take place at The Pointe on December 1 did not happen as planned.
Visitors heading to the world's largest fountains at The Pointe this evening have also been reminded that there are no parking facilities available at the venue. Instead, people are advised to park at Nakheel Mall and take the free shuttle bus.
