If you've been wanting to purchase a laptop but have been holding out until one is designed by a child of the Nile, your long wait is over. Karim Rashid, the Egyptian-American designer responsible for the
funky Dubai Mall eatery, Switch
, has
designed a couple of sweet looking Asus EeePC netbooks
.
(Rashid is also responsible for
the impossibly beautiful Endless Nile table
, one of my all-time favourite pieces of design, truly the iPod of coffee tables.)
At $500 these puppies aren't the cheapest netbooks going around, but unlike most small laptops, these ones are not horrifically ugly. And compared to that other $500 mini-computer that has everybody's attention, these netbooks are not
enriching an Evil Corporate Behemouth That Must Be Stopped Before it Eats Us All
.
