LONDON // When British car enthusiast Steve Marsh died last year, his family came up with a novel way to mark his grave - a granite scale model of his favourite BMW M3 convertible. After getting permission from the cemetery, the family were tasked with finding a company that would be able to make the one-ton model. After drawing up plans with the help of a stone mason, the headstone was imported from China - costing a total of £50,000 (Dh276,000). Marsh, who was known as "BMW Steve" because of his love of the cars, died last April aged 51. He had been suffering heart problems. His daughter Kerry told the British newspaper The Daily Mail: "He was a car enthusiast all his life, he loved cars from a child. When Mum was in labour with me, my Dad was outside fixing the nurse's car and got a page when it was time to come inside. "He always drove BMWs, we've all got them. We couldn't just give him a normal headstone." The stone BMW had to be lowered over the grave by a crane in an operation involving 20 people.
