The four-leaved Alhambra icon, introduced by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1968, is the signature motif of the brand - it's often spotted on dainty bracelets, pendants and earrings, particularly in the Middle East, where the icon is a favourite among the style-conscious elite. But while it's common to spot Alhambra studs in the ears of some of these women, never before have we seen the motif in black and with a diamond in its centre.
