Regional designers cut a dash at the 67th Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, but not on the celebrities who were expected.

Stars like Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum and Beyonce have for years understood the level of skill coming out of the Middle East and India. However, as more and more names are invited to join the prestigious haute couture circuit in Paris, their collective talents are reaching a wider audience. It means other celebrities – and their stylists – are now waking up to what these designers are capable of.

During a ceremony filled with glamour – such as the golden Schiaparelli gown worn by Beyonce, who won Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter; the vintage Jean Paul Gaultier look donned by Chappel Roan; and the gothic Vivienne Westwood look worn by Lady Gaga – it was a given that stars would turn to names from this region to bring some mega-watt dazzle.

No stranger to dressing up, Chrissy Teigen opted for two looks, arriving wearing a diaphanous black dress by American designer Christian Siriano, alongside her husband, musician John Legend, who was dressed in custom Louis Vuitton. Once inside, however, Teigen switched into a daring sequinned body and floaty cape by the Lebanese designer Tony Ward. While perhaps not the most practical choice for a seated event – cold legs anybody? – she looked every inch the superstar.

Rapper and actress Queen Latifah took to the stage to present the Dr Dre Impact Award wearing a textured cape fresh off the runway of the Rahul Mishra spring/summer 2025 haute couture show. The Indian designer – who is known for lavish and complex surfaces in his work – debuted this look only a few days ago in Paris.

The almost three dimension cape, made from complex pleats and then overprinted in geometrical patterning, was teamed with a masculine tuxedo suit that Latifah softened slightly by adding a diamond necklace, worn over her high necked top. Pure class.

Also going for two looks in one night was British actress and singer Cynthia Erivo, who arrived in custom navy Louis Vuitton and then changed into a strapless dress by Saudi Arabia's Ashi Studio.

It was worn for her performance during the ceremony, when she was accompanied by a band, and veteran musician Herbie Hancock on the piano. Erivo's look incorporated a volume-filled bubble skirt underneath a sculpted, velvet form, from the Ashi Studio autumn/winter 2024 haute couture collection. Mixed with a pill box hat and Erivo's decorated finger nails, this felt unexpected and utterly fabulous.
