When the Danish graphic designer Trine Andersen visited a clairvoyant in 2005, the psychic had a vision of a little bird perching on a branch, not knowing which way to fly. Inspired by this encounter and frustrated by the lack of affordable graphic wallpaper available on the high street, Andersen decided to set up her own mail-order shop, Ferm Living. Today, she designs wallpaper, home accessories and wall stickers for customers around the globe while the little bird symbol sits proudly on top of her company logo.

Ferm Living was an instant hit and continues to expand each season. It's easy to see why: shop here for chic, contemporary designer-style buys that ooze Scandinavian style but won't break the bank. The designs are always bang on-trend. The latest collection features fun harlequin diamond patterns on cushions, wallpaper and kitchen textiles - think fresh spring geometrics in pale blue, soft coral and oh-so-now mustard yellow.

I love Ferm's new house-shaped wooden "studio" boxes. They'd make great bedside tables or quirky wall shelves. I'm also smitten with the new white ceramic vases. Elegant and shapely, each one is a stack of different shapes fused together to create an unusual but beautiful silhouette.

Check out the chunky knitted "baskets": handy, tactile storage containers you can use for everything from fruit to logs. And, of course, there's the wallpaper. There's such a brilliant choice - some retro, some modern, all extremely groovy and unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. My favourite designs are the Scandinavian nature-inspired ones - leaves, trees, mushrooms and creeping plant tendrils in funky, modern colours.
