Join an energetic and fun BodyAttack class with Mozef Kaddas on Saturdays at 6.30pm at Abu Dhabi Country Club. Challenge yourself with the 55-minute, high-intensity, sports-inspired, group fitness session. Get ready for burpees, push-ups, plyo lunges, tuck jumps and more. However, if jumping isn’t your thing, fear not – there are low-intensity options that will keep you grounded, but still get your heart rate up. The cardio class follows an interval training format.

Eat fresh fruit sweets
As much as I love me some ice cream, I am a sucker for an ice lolly. So when I spotted Hola while hanging out at La Mer in Dubai, and saw it offers real fruit ice lollies, I knew I had to try some. I ordered a coconut one for myself – which is a blend of coconut flesh and coconut water – and a lemon mint one for my sister. Creamy, delicious and guilt-free (none of its ice lollies have added sugar), it was just what I needed on a hot afternoon. The lemon mint was refreshing with just the right amount of tang. Spoil yourself
Freshly launched at one of Abu Dhabi’s newest hotels, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, SPA is a tasteful haven of indulgent me-time. The colour-therapy hammam, which changes hue as time goes on, is one of the most impressive-looking relaxation spaces I’ve seen – the shimmering tiles are like a tester sample taken from a mermaid’s tail. The 111Skin facial – it is the first spa to sell the Harley Street brand in the Middle East – left my skin glowing, and is a cooling treat that would be especially welcome during the summer months. Also at the hotel and working in partnerships with SPA, wellness brand Bodyism – favoured by models such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Elle Macpherson – offers yoga and personal training, and its protein-rich healthy breakfasts are a delight if you’re feeling peckish. You can’t go wrong with the almond butter protein pancakes.

Period. End of Sentence. It makes you think. This short (no more than 25 minutes) documentary on Netflix follows women in India who have actually dropped out of school since they started their period, simply because they don't have access to sanitary towels and therefore find it difficult to manage going out in public during that time of the month. The film, which is nominated for an Academy Award, shows you how The Pad Project is providing these girls with a machine that allows them to produce their own and sell them in the villages, towns and then cities. Not only does it afford employment – some older ladies admit they've never worked – but also the freedom to do what they want, when they want.
