Cantonese restaurant Shang Palace in Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, is all set to welcome chef Liu Wai-Yeung, who will be taking over the kitchen for a three-night pop-up event from Thursday to Saturday, November 21 to 23. The chef, who is coming from the Michelin-starred Shang Palace at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, will be preparing an eight-course set menu along with the team at the Abu Dhabi restaurant. Dishes to keep an eye out for are the deep-fried stuffed crab shell, wok-fried cod fillet with red bean curd sauce and sauteed Wagyu beef diced with asparagus and mushroom. Prices start from Dh258 and the restaurant will also offer a lunch menu for Dh158.
Get a taste for truffles at Trattoria Toscana
The Italian eatery will be celebrating black truffle season with a limited-edition menu available until Sunday, December 8. Chef de cuisine Giorgia Minnone has curated four dishes, each featuring a four-gram shaving of the much-loved ingredient. These include: tomino cheese with wild mushroom and walnuts; pizza with pumpkin sauce, smoked mozzarella and truffle bresaola; homemade tagliolini with Parmesan fondue and egg yolk sauce; and Wagyu beef cheek with truffle mashed potatoes and baby carrot.
Hakkasan Abu Dhabi hosts a gentlemen’s night
Dapper men can get ready for a sophisticated evening involving tuxedo trends and hand-rolled treats with Hakkasan Abu Dhabi's first Gentlemen's Night, set to take place on Thursday, November 14 at 8pm. Sontaya to host guest chef for a Thai food experience
Pan-Asian restaurant Sontaya at the St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi is on a mission to display the best that South-East Asia has to offer by offering menus created by guest chefs from top hotels in the Far East. Until Saturday, November 16, enjoy a menu created by Thai chef Phukvarun Watchmon of Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, including starters such as fried sea prawn, minced chicken salad, grilled red snapper; and mains such as seabass in yellow curry, tamarind juice, kaffir lime leaves and watermelon; and wok-fried chicken.

What is the FNC?
The Federal National Council is one of five federal authorities established by the UAE constitution. It held its first session on December 2, 1972, a year to the day after Federation.
It has 40 members, eight of whom are women. The members represent the UAE population through each of the emirates. Abu Dhabi and Dubai have eight members each, Sharjah and Ras al Khaimah six, and Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain have four.
They bring Emirati issues to the council for debate and put those concerns to ministers summoned for questioning.
The FNC’s main functions include passing, amending or rejecting federal draft laws, discussing international treaties and agreements, and offering recommendations on general subjects raised during sessions.
Federal draft laws must first pass through the FNC for recommendations when members can amend the laws to suit the needs of citizens. The draft laws are then forwarded to the Cabinet for consideration and approval.
Since 2006, half of the members have been elected by UAE citizens to serve four-year terms and the other half are appointed by the Ruler’s Courts of the seven emirates.
In the 2015 elections, 78 of the 252 candidates were women. Women also represented 48 per cent of all voters and 67 per cent of the voters were under the age of 40.

Tokenisation refers to the issuance of a blockchain token, which represents a virtually tradable real, tangible asset. A tokenised asset is easily transferable, offers good liquidity, returns and is easily traded on the secondary markets.
