The country is home to the world’s tallest building, as well as plenty of other skyscrapers, so UAE residents are accustomed to sky-high views with their meals.
But those looking for a naturally elevated dining experience now have a new option to consider – one far away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
A new restaurant, 1484 by Puro, is set to open on Ras Al Khaimah's Jebel Jais mountain on October 1. Aptly named, since it is set 1,484 metres above sea level, the restaurant will be the UAE's highest, offering guests views of the peaks and valleys of the stunning Hajjar Mountains. The outlet is the latest venture by Puro, an independent restaurant brand with two existing sites – on Al Marjan Island and at the Jebel Jais Viewing Deck Park.
The new restaurant is located on Jais Adventure Peak, which is also home to the Jais Sky Maze and the world's longest zip line.
There is a whole wall of floor-to-ceiling windows so guests can take in uninterrupted views of Ras Al Khaimah's rugged natural beauty.
On the menu are international offerings such as calamari fritti, wasabi shrimps, Korean fried chicken, fish and chips, duck confit, braised beef ribs and pan-fried sea bass. Those with a sweet tooth can try desserts such as sticky date pudding and tiramisu. The venue also has a breakfast menu (because who wouldn't want to start their day with a view?) which includes favourites such as eggs Benedict, traditional shakshouka and more.
Management says the restaurant will operate in line with the safety and hygiene measures recommended by internationally recognised bodies such as the World Health Organisation and the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, while adhering to federal directives.
Some of the measures taken in response to the coronavirus pandemic include a maximum seating capacity of 76 guests, the sanitisation of equipment and the adoption of social-distancing measures.
