New pizza spot in Dubai Marina

A couple of weeks ago I was walking around the back of Jumeirah Beach Residence when I was offered a slice of pizza from the newly opened Zpizza nearby (see photo above). Munching this certainly made my walk home more interesting and the pizza was pretty good too, so the next time I ordered takeaway, it sprung to mind.

A US import, Zpizza is marketed as "the pure one", with its base and sauce made from organic ingredients. It also seems that while it's not gluten-free at the moment, it is looking to provide a gluten-free option in the future.

The menu provides a couple of classic topping options and then some more unusual ones – Mexican, Thai or Californian, for example, as well as a few pastas and salads.

We tried the beef pepperoni and the Tuscan mushroom (with roasted garlic sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, caramelised onions, feta cheese and thyme) and both were good, with a thin, chewy, slightly crisp, base.

The staff who I spoke to over the phone were friendly and well informed and orders can be also be placed online. Our delivery to the Marina arrived in fewer than 30 minutes and the prices are pretty reasonable, at around Dh59 for a medium pizza. However, I would say that while the website advises this serves 3-4, I think it's more likely to satisfy two hungry people, three at a push.

In short, if you’re looking for a quick, tasty pizza fix, that won’t leave you feeling like you’ve grossly over indulged, this is worth trying.
