Hiltonia Beach Club provides a sweet spot to watch National Day fireworks

We’ve found a sweet (comfortable) spot to watch the fireworks in Abu Dhabi tonight where, we hope, the crowds will be a little thinner than the public beach.

The Hiltonia Beach Club on the Corniche is hosting a National Day barbecue tonight. The buffet includes chicken, lamb, beef and must-try grilled shrimp. There are salads, vegetables, small bites and a nice dessert selection as well. There is also a bouncy castle and face painting for little ones.

I went to the barbecue last night with my family and it was well worth it. The food is served outside and we sat at a table right on the edge of the beach. After the kids filled their bellies, they played in the sand while my husband and I had a rare meal alone. Our favourites: the grilled shrimp, the chicken, the corn (covered in a milky clove sauce) and tiramisu for dessert.

The best part of the night was the clear view of the firework show. It wasn’t crowded last night, but there will surely be more people there tonight.

Barbecue with beach access at th Hilton Abu Dhabi is Dh185 per person. Kids ages 6 to 12 years are half price and those under 6 are free. Drinks are not included in the price. Tickets can be reserved from 11am onward on Tuesday, December 2 at the Hilton Abu Dhabi. For more information, call 02 681 1900
