From new openings by celebrity chefs to revamping old venues, the emirate has seen a bevvy of fresh outlets launch in recent weeks Greg Malouf has designed the menu for the two branches of this new restaurant. The first is now open at JA Beach Hotel in Jebel Ali, with a second to open at JA Oasis Beach Tower in JBR soon. Malouf used to be behind notable Dubai spots Zahira and Cle. He’s made his UAE return with a selection of dishes that celebrate authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, to be enjoyed in the neighbourhood-style eateries. www.phoeniciadubai.com Flavours from Asia are being explored in this restaurant’s wide-ranging menu that spans Thai, Filipino, Korean, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisines, to name a few. Expect authentic dishes, themed interiors and tropical mixed beverages. It’s one of three spots that opened within the last month at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi, and has taken over the space previously occupied by Spice Emporium. The other two concepts are Baba, a steakhouse, and all-day dining eatery Mina’s Kitchen. www.marriot.com It's not even been two weeks since it opened, but chef Nusret Gokce's new DIFC joint, Saltbae Burger, has seen customers streaming in day after day, night after night. It's perhaps no wonder, when the menu is laced with burgers covered in gold and towering monster shakes. While the chef, known globally as Salt Bae, has a number of other burger restaurants around the world, this is the first of its kind and his second restaurant in Dubai, after his well-regarded steakhouse, Nusr-Et, at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach. www.nusr-et.com The Galleria Mall near City Walk is now home to new cafe-cum-bistro TBK, which is from the team behind The Boutique Kitchen and Asma, with Chef Adriano Molli from London’s Chiltern Firehouse in charge. It’s a casual spot with an Italian-American-inspired menu. From fried chicken (yes, the same as on The Boutique Kitchen’s menu) to sloppy joes and wasabi prawn baps – this promises comfort food with an upscale twist. instagram.com/tbkdubai This one is not accepting customers yet, but promises to swing open its doors to the public by Wednesday, November 27. The new modern Mediterranean eatery that boasts minimal-chic interiors is by chef Silvena Rowe, the woman behind sugar, dairy and gluten-free cafe Omnia at Jumeirah Fishing Harbour. It will be based at Jumeirah Golf Estates and will offer a medley of dishes from southern Europe and the Levant that will also encompass Rowe’s philosophy of using locally sourced ingredients and healthy recipes. _________________ Read more: _________________
