Tis the season to open restaurants. Here are four new eateries opening this week in Dubai:
Common Grounds
The newest cafe by the duo that brought us the chic coffee houses Tom & Serg and The Sum of Us opens in the Mall of the Emirates tomorrow (Monday, September 28). Dishes to try: smashed avocado on linseed toast; acai bowls; super salads; and jerk chicken. And, of course, don’t miss the famous high quality coffee that made Tom & Serg a household name. Located on the second floor of the mall in the new expansion area, Common Grounds will be open daily from 8am to 10pm.
Peruvian cuisine is the cuisine of the moment so expect to see more ceviche-loving restaurants popping up around the country in the coming months. This week, Inka opens on the 31st floor of the Sofitel Downtown Dubai. The upscale restaurant will serve Peruvian fare and Peruvian-inspired cocktails in an art deco setting. It opens Thursday, October 1. 04 346 9295
Texas de Brazil, the biggest Brazilian steakhouse in the USA, opens tomorrow (September 28) in Mall of the Emirates in the level 2 expansion. The popular all-you-can-eat restaurant chain serves up 14 different meat options and has more than 60 salads on the buffet. The meats are cooked over an open flame and served at your table by gauchos (think: Brazilian cowboys). The all-you-can-eat option is Dh115 on weekdays (salads-only option is Dh65); and on weekends, it's Dh159 (salads-only option is Dh95). The 5,500 square foot restaurant can seat nearly 200 people and is open from noon to midnight Sunday through Wednesday and until 1am Thursday through Saturday. 04 379 2447
Do you know about the Classic Car Cafe in Boxpark? It's been in the soft opening stage since the end of July, but the official grand opening is this week. They spent the soft opening phase putting the final touches on the venue and the menu and now they're ready to show off their unique concept. For serious car lovers — or for those who just want to relax in a nostalgic setting — the Classic Car Cafe is filled with classic European car memorabilia that's presented in a tasteful way. The classic European and French cuisine on offer matches the venue's sleek, sophisticated interior. The menu includes classics such as chilled melon soup; pain perdu; chicken à la Provençale, boeuf et frites (steak and fries); and a pan-fried Camembert salad. There's even a quiche of the day. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is open daily from 10am to midnight. www.classiccarcafe.ae
