Pantry Café – the month-old, locally born, upscale Jumeirah delicatessen in Wasl Square – has plans to expand into more neighbourhoods in the UAE. This weekend may be the time to try its pizzas crafted from Caputo flour, San Marzano tomatoes and baked on-site in Pantry’s wood-fired oven by a Neapolitan chef.

It’s Mother’s Day today and the deals are plentiful. Dine at Le Deck in the Monte-Carlo Beach Club on Saadiyat Island, spending a minimum of Dh500, and get a free day pass worth Dh250 for mum. Or head to The Change Initiative in Dubai tomorrow; mothers eat for free when accompanied by their family from 9am to 2pm.
