Cho Gao has undergone some changes over the last several weeks, not the least of which is a newly-launched sushi bar. Located in the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi on Hamdan Street, the popular Asian restaurant’s new dark wood sushi bar features a canvas depicting traditional Japanese elements. It seats 12 guests, with an additional six at the bar who will get a close-up view of sushi-making by chef Indra Shrestha, who joined the team in December.

Cho Gao has recently been taken over by a new female head chef — Areewan Larpnikornkul. The restaurant has rolled out a new Taste of Japan menu, which features a selection of sashimi, sushi and maki rolls and last month, Cho Gao added a handful of new desserts to its menu. Those new desserts include lychee panna cotta with mango smear, apple pie with ginger ice cream, bitter chocolate cake, green lime cheesecake, and one that features a melting chocolate ball on banana cake.

Cho Gao means ‘rice market’ in Vietnamese. The restaurant serves up innovative dishes inspired by Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, China and Japan.

It's open daily from noon to 1am; until 3am on Thursdays and Fridays. Call 02 616 6149
