The 2019 Venice Film Festival is here. For the next 11 days the biggest names in Hollywood will be flocking to the Italian city to celebrate all things cinema. On day one of the ceremony, movie stars, models, directors and socialites walked the red carpet, arriving by boat for the festivities.

Italian designers were well represented on the red carpet. Etro seems to be the designer to wear this year, with Sabri, Isabella Ferrari, Candice Swanepoel and Elsa Hosk all choosing gowns by the Italian fashion house.

Iman also chose a designer from the host country, Valentino; and Armani Prive was worn by Alessandra Mastronardi, Juliette Binoche and Zhong Chuxi.

The looks were not exclusively Italian, however, as French model Gabrielle Caunesil represented the Middle East sartorially, opting to wear a structured and glittering Rami Kadi dress.
