Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed sports a Nite timepiece

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi wore the British-designed watch for his recent Singapore trip

On his visit to Singapore last week, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was wearing a timepiece made by a niche watch brand.

On the sidelines of the Singapore section of the Crown Prince’s Asia tour, during which he met the President of Singapore, Sheikh Mohamed paid a visit to Mubadala Investments’ GlobalFoundries semiconductor plant and pictures taken during this part of the trip show him wearing a Nite MX10-201 timepiece.

Designed by an independent British watch brand, the Nite model the Crown Prince wore is steeped in military heritage, having originally been worn by SAS Special Forces soldiers.

Retailing for $400 (Dh1,469) the timepiece has a durable and functional design.

A black polymer strap holds a 39mm case complete with a push crown and Swiss-constructed Ronda Quartz movement to ensure precision timing. The face is made to withstand the toughest of conditions, crafted from ultra-scratch resistant sapphire crystal coated with triple anti-reflective coating to reduce glare to almost zero.

Water resistant to more than 100 metres, the MX10-201 weighs in at less than 78 grams and comes with T25 Swiss Made GTS illumination, allowing for completely self-powered 24-hour illumination.

The watch has a four- to five-year battery lifespan and can also be customised at the company headquarters in Christchurch, in the south of England. For orders of 10 or more timepieces, the dials, hands and case backs can be individually crafted.

Nite has already worked with several customers in the UAE to create exclusive designs inlaid with the falcon emblem, set with eastern Arabic hour markers and with a case commemorating National Day.

Shipping to the UAE is available on Nite’s website and orders are being accepted for the MX10-201 model with an expected arrival date towards the end of this month.
