The city of Beirut has been shrouded in tragedy this year, but one of its designers is looking to the sky with an optimistic eye.

Lebanese couturier Jean-Louis Sabaji has unveiled his spring / summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection, encapsulating its theme in the simple title, Soar.

The line is kissed with lavish plumes and shimmering snakeskin in a bid to echo the boldness of Sabaji's couture in his inaugural RTW collection.

"Light as a bird, the woman is concealed with feathers ready to fly away. She is bold and free," the collection notes state.

Pieces range from mini dresses covered in lavish feathers to floor-sweeping gowns trimmed with brightly hued plumes. Sequined snakeskin prints are also scattered across the collection, alongside sleek block-colour dress and architectural necklines.

The collection is currently available for pre-order on Sabaji's website.

The eponymous label, founded in Beirut in 2012, has dressed the likes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, models Natalia Vodianova and Winnie Harlow, and Get Out actress Allison Williams.

The son of famed couture designer Jean Sabaji, Sabaji Jr studied at Domus Academy Milan before launching his own brand, which has become known for its sculptural touch and vibrant use of colour.
