The 45-year-old Muslim actor, who won Academy Award acclaim for his turns in Green Book and Moonlight, is, arguably, the film industry's snappiest dresser, a title he's earned thanks to statement-making appearances on red carpets for several years.
Never afraid to take a fashion risk, Ali has been giving masterclasses in menswear since he burst on to the scene in sci-fi series The 4400. He first began to really garner sartorial acknowledgement in 2016, however, as Moonlight swept cinemas and awards glory.
Whether silken, moss-green suiting or edgy beanies teamed with razor-sharp tailoring, Ali tends to bend the red carpet rules, bringing a contemporary touch to events where a simple black tux is the ensemble du jour.
