The label's founder, designer Kenzo Takada, died this week aged 81

He was responsible for some of the red carpet's boldest creations, and Kenzo Takada's legacy will live on far beyond his lifetime.

The Japanese designer, who founded his namesake label in 1970, died on Sunday, at the age of 81.

The Himeji-born creative, who passed away after battling the coronavirus, ran Kenzo until 1999, but his sartorial DNA remains woven throughout the brand.

The label's penchant for punchy prints, vibrant colour palettes and experimental silhouettes created a legion of famous fans over the years, and it has dressed the likes of Michelle Williams, Solange Knowles and former first lady Michelle Obama.
