He's one of the Philippines most famous names, and now Michael Cinco is helping pass on the baton to some of his home nation's freshest new talents.
The designer to the stars, who is based in Dubai, was a guest of honour at last night's Filipino Times Awards, held in the Sofitel on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah.
The couturier, who has dressed Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Aishwarya Rai, helped hand out trophies at the annual awards ceremony, organised by The Filipino Times.

Cinco awarded Hyku Desesto, who runs a photography agency in the UAE, with Photographer of the Year, while production designer and art director Andronico Del Rosario, who has worked on films such as Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, took home Artist of the Year.
Paul Aggarao, meanwhile, was awarded Filmmaker of the Year, while Jose Allen Villena, who established his Bella Donna atelier in 2000, was given the Most Promising Designer of the Year accolade.
Also in attendance on the night was Hjayceelyn Quintana, Philippines Ambassador to the UAE, who delivered a speech on stage.

Studying addiction
This month, Dubai Medical College launched the Middle East’s first master's programme in addiction science.
Together with the Erada Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation, the college offers a two-year master’s course as well as a one-year diploma in the same subject.
The move was announced earlier this year and is part of a new drive to combat drug abuse and increase the region’s capacity for treating drug addiction.

A comparison of sending Dh20,000 from the UAE using two different routes at the same time - the first direct from a UAE bank to a bank in Germany, and the second from the same UAE bank via an online platform to Germany - found key differences in cost and speed. The transfers were both initiated on January 30.
Route 1: bank transfer
The UAE bank charged Dh152.25 for the Dh20,000 transfer. On top of that, their exchange rate margin added a difference of around Dh415, compared with the mid-market rate.

Route 2: online platform
The UAE bank’s charge for sending Dh20,000 to a UK dirham-denominated account was Dh2.10. The exchange rate margin cost was Dh60, plus a Dh12 fee.
Total cost: Dh74.10, around 0.4 per cent of the transaction
Total received: €4,756
The UAE bank transfer was far quicker – around two to three working days, while the online platform took around four to five days, but was considerably cheaper. In the online platform transfer, the funds were also exposed to currency risk during the period it took for them to arrive.
