The stars have been out in force this week for the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival in France. Things kicked off on Tuesday night with a <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/lifestyle/fashion/cannes-2019-the-best-fashion-from-the-opening-ceremony-1.861684"> star-studded opening ceremony</a> which saw the likes of Selena Gomez, Nadine Labaki, and Julianne Moore take to the red carpet. On Wednesday night, the cinematic celebration ramped up a notch with a <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/lifestyle/fashion/cannes-film-festival-2019-17-red-carpet-looks-from-day-two-1.862084#5">selection of screenings and premieres</a>, including one for competition contender <em>Bacurau </em>and<em> </em>another for French director<em> </em>Ladj Ly's take on <em>Les Miserables.</em> Stars including jury member Elle Fanning, actresses Amber Heard and Julianne Moore, and Indian celebrity Hina Khan were among those walking the red carpet throughout the day. Thursday proved to be the biggest day yet, with the highly-anticipated premiere of Elton John's <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/film/elton-john-to-tolkien-eight-biopic-films-that-are-on-our-radar-for-2019-1.827065">forthcoming biopic </a><em><a href="https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/film/elton-john-to-tolkien-eight-biopic-films-that-are-on-our-radar-for-2019-1.827065">Rocket Man</a></em>.
