Princess Eugenie has revealed the name of her week-old son on Instagram, sharing the first full picture of the newborn.

“We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank,” she wrote alongside the photo, showing her husband Jack Brooksbank cradling his son, wrapped in a blue blanket.

“Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express,” she said.

The child's middle name is a sweet tribute to his great-grandfather, Prince Philip.

She added that the photo was taken by her midwife. “Thank you to the wonderful essential workers including our midwife who came to discharge our boy,” she said.

Princess Eugenie, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, gave birth to her first child on February 9 at London's Portland Hospital.

The royal family confirmed the birth on Twitter and Eugenie released a black-and-white image on Instagram.

The baby is the ninth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh and 11th in line to the throne.

The couple married at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in October 2018.

Eugenie also announced her pregnancy on Instagram with a photo of a pair of baby slippers.
