Forget sand dunes and mountain tops – intrepid campers can soon bed down in an unexpected new location in the UAE.

Laguna Waterpark, which is located at Dubai's beachfront destination La Mer, is offering visitors the chance to spend the night at the family-friendly attraction.

The waterpark is launching The Camp, an overnight experience in which guests can experience an al fresco film, toast marshmallows and watch the sun rise over the beach.

The event, which will be held every Thursday and Friday night from Thursday, February 20, is the region's first camping experience offered at a waterpark.

The overnight adventure begins with check-in at 5pm, with visitors able to check out the park's rides and slides until 6pm and tuck into an unlimited barbecue buffet from 7.30pm until 10pm. There will also be board games, a camp fire, a child-friendly film screening at 8pm, live music from a DJ and a guitarist, as well as a selection of sweet treats and corn available to toast over the fire.

When it comes to the sleeping arrangements, there's no need to BYO; Laguna Waterpark will be set up with tents suitable for either two or four people. Two-person camps cost Dh700, while the four-person tents are priced at Dh1,200.

In the morning, campers can enjoy the sunrise, take a swim in the Arabian Gulf and dine on a breakfast basket delivered to each tent, filled with the likes of eggs, tomatoes, onions, Arabic bread, labneh and cheese. There will be live cooking stations set up for ticket-holders to use, with check-out set at 10am.

Guests don't have to leave the park that morning, though; bags can be stowed in the park's storage lockers and visitors can continue to use the attraction's rides as part of The Camp's ticket, with unlimited food and drinks.

Laguna Waterpark, which first opened in 2018, features an infinity pool, lazy river, a range of high-octane slides and a wave-riding machine.

Tickets for the overnight experience can be pre-booked from www.lagunawaterpark.com.
