A-maze-ing: World’s largest mobile maze opens in Abu Dhabi's Marina Mall

The Wonder Maze launched in the capital on Saturday, December 28, offering residents a challenge full of twists and turns.

Set over 2,787 square metres, this is the largest mobile maze in the world, and it recently popped up in Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi (between the Carrefour entrance and Centrepoint). This is the attraction’s third location in the UAE, after Al Ain Zoo and Riverland Dubai.

The structure consists of more than 25,000 square metres of tarpaulin, 1,700 metres of column pipes and 8,000 metres of rope that create the paths and grids, which total a length of 3,000 metres. The Marina Mall installation took about 1,500 man hours.

The entire experience offers most visitors about 45 to 60 minutes of fun. The best part? Since the maze is designed and developed in modules, the configuration of the paths is changed frequently – ensuring no two trips are the same. At the centre is a five-metre high viewing platform. There’s also a “Quick Exit” there, for those who want to leave the maze without having to walk all the way back out again.

The attraction is suitable for all age groups and is pegged as a family activity that tests a participant’s sense of direction and memory.

“We are absolutely delighted to bring The Wonder Maze to Marina Mall, one of the most popular family destinations in Abu Dhabi. We are confident that this spectacular maze will appeal to every age group, from small children to grandparents; anyone with an inquisitive mind and who wants to discover what’s around the next corner will love it! The Wonder Maze will assist in increasing team building skills and use critical thinking,” says Lee Holmes, manager, The Wonder Maze Amusement LLC.

The attraction is now open to the public daily from 11am to 10pm until April 22, 2020.

If you think you have what it takes? There’s only one way to find out.
