Coronavirus: UAE records 1,632 new cases and six deaths

Another 1,561 patients recovered in the past 24 hours

The UAE reported 1,632 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday after 291,676 further tests were carried out across the country.

So far, the authorities have reported 637,877 infections since the beginning of the pandemic.

There were six deaths from Covid-related complications in the past 24 hours.

Officials said 1,561 people recovered, increasing the total number of recoveries to 616,197. There are 19,849 active cases in the UAE.

Mass public screening has been a priority for the UAE in its efforts to stem the spread of the virus, alongside an extensive vaccination campaign.

More than 58 million tests have been conducted so far.

Government data showed more than 15.4 million vaccine doses had been administered across the country since the inoculation campaign began in December.
