I work for a company that is based in Dubai but has an office in Pakistan, which is where I work. Can I file a case against them in the UAE, as their head office is based there? I am currently owed two months' salary and a payment for annual leave, and they are not showing signs of being willing to pay me. AI, Pakistan
As AI is living and working in Pakistan, it is the local laws that will apply. The UAE has no jurisdiction over employees in another country. This is the case even if a company has their head office here, as people will have been employed under the system in Pakistan and the company will also be registered to trade there. Pakistan has its own labour laws, specifically the payment of wages act, so if there is a problem AI would have to pursue the company under those rules.
