ABU DHABI // A footbridge has been built next to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to allow worshippers and visitors to cross a busy road.
The bridge, which will open this month, will make it safer for pedestrians and motorists in the area, said Musabbah Mubarak Al Murar, acting general manager of Abu Dhabi Municipality.
He said improving the safety of pedestrians was a major concern of the municipality.
Construction on the bridge, which will contain lifts to make it accessible for the disabled, began in March 2016.
