UAE residents will be able to get their hands on the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on September 23, but to ensure availability they may want to pre-order.

Both du and Etisalat have announced that their pre-order services have started ahead of the highly-anticipated release of the new smartphones.

Etisalat said in a statement on its website that "orders placed during the pre-order period through online or Etisalat stores will be given priority once stocks have arrived. Expected delivery of iPhone 8 preorders will be within three working days starting from September 23."

The telecoms firm is also offering free delivery of the handset to the doorstep of customers who pre-order, plus it is offering a free upgrade plan that allows customers to own a new iPhone every year.

Du meanwhile said that orders placed on September 15 would be delivered within five working days from the launch date.

Orders placed between September 16 and 18 would be delivered within seven working days from the launch date,
and those placed between September 19 and 22 would be delivered within 15 working days from the launch date.

"Delivery orders will be served on a ‘first in, first out’ basis," it said. "Therefore, if you pre-order the new iPhone on the first day of the pre-order period, you will receive your device in the first delivery batch."

Favourite holiday destination: Malaysia. I went there for my honeymoon and ended up volunteering to teach local children for a few hours each day. It is such a special place and I plan to retire there one day.
