Solar Impulse flight delayed due to weather

After several days of work and preparation, the Solar Impulse team has decided to delay its trans-Pacific flight once again.

The control centre team in Monaco said a clear flight window for the solar-powered plane had been available on Monday night, but due to predicted weather conditions it was likely that the Nanjing to Hawaii leg would take seven days instead of five.

The team said there was no reason to put Andre Borschberg, the pilot, through unnecessary strain.

With monsoon season beginning in early June in South China, the team is likely under more strain as it seeks optimum conditions to take off. The team has been in Nanjing for more than a month.
