DUBAI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has drawn on the traditional idea of a majlis to create a council for brainstorming ideas on making Dubai an ultra-modern city.

“Our target is to give all members of society the opportunity to attend our majlis and to present their ideas and comments, consult together and work hand in hand to promote the development process,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

“This can only be implemented if we integrate the traditional idea of the majlis with advanced technology”, allowing Dubai residents and people worldwide to contribute to the development process, he said.

The majlis consists of three parts. Residents and visitors may submit ideas to the council through an evaluation process.

Second, the public can provide feedback on problems at facilities, such as parks, beaches and roads, by photographing them and specifying locations. Third, the Smart Majlis will periodically meet to conduct brainstorming sessions, it said.

Dubai Police chief Maj Gen Khamis Al Muzeina praised the new initiative and said: “The UAE is made of teams in all fields that will take our achievements to the peaks, because we are a people that doesn’t love life except when [on top].”

Dubai Police are also studying ways to implement four suggestions put forth by the council, Maj Gen Al Muzeina said. People can participate by using the MBRMajlis smartphone application or visiting www.MBRMajlis.ae.
