Customers of Orbit Showtime Network, the UAE's largest pay-TV satellite provider, experienced an interruption to service today following a small fire at their Dubai office in the early hours of this morning.
No one was hurt in the fire, but it left the satellite company without power and affected programming on 85 channels.
According to Ellis D'Rozario, marketing director at OSN, technicians have been able to restore regular programming on 44 of the 85 channels. "These channels are back to broadcasting as per schedule," he said. "The other 41 channels are still broadcasting, just not the content that was scheduled to run at this time."
He said the power was back on and technicians were working as quickly as possible to restore the remaining channels.
An OSN call centre operator advised customers the service would be back to normal within the next two days.

What is graphene?
Graphene is extracted from graphite and is made up of pure carbon.
It is 200 times more resistant than steel and five times lighter than aluminum.
It conducts electricity better than any other material at room temperature.
It is thought that graphene could boost the useful life of batteries by 10 per cent.
Graphene can also detect cancer cells in the early stages of the disease.
The material was first discovered when Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov were 'playing' with graphite at the University of Manchester in 2004.
