The first “smart” air-conditioned bus shelter has been opened in Jumeirah by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.
It is fitted with free wireless internet and is to be the first of 100 such shelters to be built across 15 districts in Dubai.
Other services available at the shelter include sale and top-up of Nol cards, top-up of mobile phones for local and international networks, mobile phone recharge, interactive screens, bill payments and a mini-mart for refreshments and snacks.
About 25 shelters will be completed this month and 75 others by April.
