RAK Airways has announced that it will relaunch services before the end of the year, after a hiatus of more than 12 months. Sheikh Omar Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, chairman of RAK Airways, said the exceptionally tough market conditions that had led the four-year-old airline to suspend scheduled services in May 2009 had abated. He said: "We are now ready to make a strategic re-entry into the market. "We have a lot of exciting new plans, which will be unveiled soon. Omar Jahameh, our recently appointed CEO and his team are finalising the details of our flights to destinations in the Gulf, Africa and the Indian Sub Continent," he added. It is hoped the decision to relaunch the airline will help boost tourism in the emirate. * The National
