Property visa in Abu Dhabi is in the hands of the authorities

I am currently on an investor's visa, which expires in 2016. I own a property in Abu Dhabi valued at about Dh2.2 million, without a mortgage. Can you advise if I would be able to obtain a two-year visa linked to the property? PT, Abu Dhabi

While this is theoretically possible, at least for a period of six months at a time – not two years, as that applies to Dubai – the decision rests with the Department of Naturalization, Residence and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior in Abu Dhabi. Cases are reviewed individually, but my sources tell me that property-linked visas are not generally being issued in Abu Dhabi at the present time.
