MADRID// The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) yesterday signed a ground-breaking three-year partnership with European football champions Real Madrid.
The official signing took place on the eve of the club’s highly anticipated derby match with Atletico Madrid.
NBAD is the only bank outside Spain to issue jointly branded Real Madrid credit and debit cards.
“We have formed a strategic alliance with one of the most prestigious institutions in the world,” said Real Madrid.
The sponsorship deal signals NBAD’s plan to expand its global presence.
Valued at US$3.44 billion (Dh12.63bn), Real Madrid is the most valuable football club in the world, according to Forbes magazine.
The partnership deal is another UAE link for Real Madrid following their €150 million (Dh711.8m) sponsorship deal with Fly Emirates.
