Cardholders can find the best deals based on their location
RAKBank, the Ras Al Khaimah-based retail lender, has launched a new mobile banking app that allows customers to take advantage of special offers through its RAKBankdeals.ae platform.
The bank says the app, which can be downloaded online, is compatible with most Web-enabled smartphones, such as the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android devices.
"With RAKBankdeals.ae enjoying a growing popularity, we introduced this new application so our customers can access a wide array of exclusive, attractive deals while they are on the go," says Banali Malhotra, the head of marketing at RAKBank.
Cardholders can also share news of the deals with their family and friends via SMS, email or through social-networking sites, including Facebook and Twitter.
RAKBankdeals.ae, which the bank launched late last year, is a one-stop online platform designed for RAKBanks's credit, debit and prepaid cardholders who want to take advantage of exclusive privileges and loyalty programmes.
These include access to the lender's weekly deals, which offer discounts of 50 per cent and more from 80 brands. The app also offers a dining discount programme, prepaid card offers and buy one get one free deals. For details, go to www.rakbank.ae.

Mashreq has updated its tailor-made Majestic loan bundle that guarantees customers will receive cash in their accounts in 24 hours if their application is successful.
Dubai's third-largest lender by assets is also giving away free holiday vouchers to all customers who apply for a loan, as well as the option to apply for job-loss insurance.
"At Mashreq, we understand customer requirements and needs and constantly look at various value-added benefits to offer them throughout the year," says Ambar Brahmachary, the head of marketing and customer experience at Mashreq.
"The Majestic loan is designed to ease the financial hassle families endure during the summer season."

Credit Score explained
What is a credit score?
In the UAE your credit score is a number generated by the Al Etihad Credit Bureau (AECB), which represents your credit worthiness – in other words, your risk of defaulting on any debt repayments. In this country, the number is between 300 and 900. A low score indicates a higher risk of default, while a high score indicates you are a lower risk.
Why is it important?
Financial institutions will use it to decide whether or not you are a credit risk. Those with better scores may also receive preferential interest rates or terms on products such as loans, credit cards and mortgages.
How is it calculated?
The AECB collects information on your payment behaviour from banks as well as utilitiy and telecoms providers.
How can I improve my score?
By paying your bills on time and not missing any repayments, particularly your loan, credit card and mortgage payments. It is also wise to limit the number of credit card and loan applications you make and to reduce your outstanding balances.
How do I know if my score is low or high?
By checking it. Visit one of AECB’s Customer Happiness Centres with an original and valid Emirates ID, passport copy and valid email address. Liv. customers can also access the score directly from the banking app.
How much does it cost?
A credit report costs Dh100 while a report with the score included costs Dh150. Those only wanting the credit score pay Dh60. VAT is payable on top.

How has net migration to UK changed?
