UAE petrol prices to fall almost 10 per cent in July

The fall in petrol and diesel comes after four months of rising prices at the pumps

Motorists in the UAE will get a summer respite at the pumps in July with the price of petrol falling by about 24 fills.

Next month's drop in prices comes after four months of fuel cost increases in the Emirates.

The fuel price committee has announced a decrease of 9.9 per cent for motorists using Special 95.

Here is the breakdown of the prices per litre:

• Super 98: down 23 fils to Dh2.30

• Special 95: down 24 fils to Dh2.18

• Diesel: down 19 fils to Dh2.35

Fuel prices in the UAE were liberalised in August 2015 to adjust as per the market.

Drivers across the Emirates have faced continual rises in the cost of petrol this year amid rising global oil prices.

For June, the cost at the pumps jumped 10 per cent for Super 98 and Special 95 compared to May. This followed an almost 11 per cent rise in May, and about 10 per cent rise in April.

Motorists started 2019 with a substantial drop in prices when the cost of Special 95 fell below Dh2 a litre for the first time in more than a year.
