Etihad Airways has a new board of directors following government decree. A decision by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, includes five new director appointments.
Mohamed Al Mazrouei still heads the board and Hamad Al Shamsi remains a member.
New directors include Ahmed Al Sayegh, Abu Dhabi Global Market chairman, Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Mohammed Al Mubarak, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority chairman, Mohamed Al Yousuf, executive director of aviation at the Department of Transport and Ahmed Al Rumaithi, who also serves on the board of Abu Dhabi Airports.
The appointment of the new board is “an important milestone in the evolution to an aviation group, which has taken place over the last 18 months”, Mr Al Mazrouei said.
“This preeminent group of directors brings together in-depth knowledge and experience of both aviation and tourism, which will further strengthen the airline and the business moving forward, and ensure the right focus on the continuing development of the Group.
“I would like to thank the outgoing board members for their contribution to the development of the Etihad Aviation Group, and to Abu Dhabi’s emergence as a global aviation hub.
“For us, this is business as usual and the continuation of a journey we began in 2003. We will build on the solid foundations laid by our predecessors.”
