CSR tops agenda in Dubai

The Dubai Economic Council (DEC) has distributed 1,000 packages filled with basic consumer goods to workers and families in the UAE registered with the Beit Al Khair Society.

The Meer Ramadan campaign was held with food companies including Emirates Macaroni, Emirates Dates, Iffco and United Foods. The packages include macaroni, flour, ghee, oil, dates and other goods.

"The... aim is to help relieve 500 workers and 500 families in the UAE," the DEC said in a statement.

"This step comes within our efforts to engage the private sector in community service through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes that involves delivering aid to the needy wherever they are" said Sheikha Mona Abdullah Al Moalla, the chief operating officer of strategic planning and operations of the Dubai Economic Council.

The DEC will announce a number of other CSR initiatives including social and humanitarian programmes, she said, asking "for all companies and bodies to collaborate to realise" them.
