Bank card to help with day-to-day expenses

Emirates Islamic Bank has launched a rewards credit card designed for customers looking to manage their day-to-day expenses.

The fully Sharia-compliant card offers flexibility and a range of benefits. In addition to the features and benefits it offers, the card also lets cardholders earn "choice points" on all purchases. Customers get two points for every Dh1 spent, which can then be redeemed at a range of retailers, including Sharaf DG, Damas, Joyalukkas, Abu Dhabi Mall, Carrefour, Spinneys and Home Centre.

The UAE lender has also teamed up with flydubai to provide customers with the opportunity to redeem their choice points against various travel services offered by the Dubai low-cost airline.

"As one of the leading financial Islamic institutions in the UAE, Emirates Islamic Bank is committed to providing a broad range of outstanding products and services that cater to its customers' varied needs," said Jamal bin Ghalaita, the chief executive.

Customers can use the card for discounts at more than 100 restaurants in the UAE. Other services include the provision to convert purchases into equal monthly instalments as well as offering supplementary cards and lounge access.

Executives from the Middle East banking and financial services industry got a glimpse of the future of bank statements at the Canon stand at Gulf Print & Pack.

GMC Software Technology demonstrated how its "inspire dynamic statement" is set to revolutionise the way banking customers will utilise their financial statements in the near future.

Instead of standard online statements, the solution presents each customer's data through interactive charts and graphs that allow full drill-down capability for more detailed information.

The statements can also be viewed on tablet devices. The solution allows for the usage of every statement to be tracked and thereby to tailor relevant offers and marketing messages.

"The inspire dynamic statement from GMC allows businesses to transform the customer experience. Banking clients can easily view their information how they want without the restriction of any predefined reports. It's what every customer wants or will expect in the near future," said Hendrik Verbrugghe, the marketing director for Canon Middle East.

Emirates NBD has launched a Visa signature debit card that enables the bank's priority customers to access a "wide range of lifestyle benefits".

The card is in line with the "privileges and more" programme for affluent customers, which was launched in October. All offers from the "privileges & more" programme, including a comprehensive package of more than 80 exclusive offers from reputed brands, will be migrated to the Signature debit card, to enable cardholders to take up the discounts.

"The launch of the Visa signature debit card is in line with Emirates NBD's strategic objective to provide end-to-end solutions to our affluent clients and consolidate the comprehensive offer on payment cards," said the bank's Frederic de Melker.
