The New York University Abu Dhabi campus on Saadiyat Island is being built by Mubadala Development, a strategic investment company owned by the Abu Dhabi Government.

It is scheduled to open in 2014, according to the website. Work is progressing on the building and a few storeys have been built, the TDIC says.

It adds that the development will throw up opportunities for further development around the campus, including student housing and activities for students.

NYU Abu Dhabi's temporary main campus, which opened two years ago, is in downtown Abu Dhabi. It also has a science and engineering department in Musaffah.
