Samsung may be renowned for its mobile phones and televisions, but the Korean company also manufactures some decent home appliances. Its latest is the Samsung Motion Sync Vacuum Cleaner F700/800, a hefty and sturdy looking bagless cleaner suitable for larger homes.
Good suction is paramount for any vacuum cleaner and the Cyclone Force motor, available at Dh1,849, did a fantastic job of banishing dust and stray hairs. It even has a dust sensor signalling green when all the dust has been sucked up in a given area. This is a feature that should come in handy during the sandier months.
A flexible floor brush and nozzle that can distinguish between tiled floors, wooden panels and carpets is also essential. Easy adjustments are a must to ensure a speedy cleaning session and the Samsung excelled in this regard.
Its detachable handle also has an extendable bristle, which makes cleaning tables, and other surface areas that require a softer touch than hard plastic a dream.
Putting everything together was a doddle, as was taking it apart to clean it out.
It has a swivel design, where the main body is separate from the wheels which gives it more agility and better navigation around the home. As quite a forceful person, any vacuum cleaner usually ends up on its side as I attempt to drag it behind me. The Samsung, however, maintained its upright position the entire time, even when dragged around corners.
The handle also has a power button that saves from having to turn off the device with your foot, making for quicker response times when you realise you’ve sucked up something that does not belong in the cylinder of a vacuum cleaner. This does require batteries to function though.
Overall this is a powerful cleaner. At first glance it looks remarkably like a Dyson, there is even a hint of colour akin to its British competitor. Dyson has taken Samsung to court over th Cyclone cleaner for copyright infringement in the United Kingdom, with founder James Dyson claiming that it is a “cynical rip-off”.
