The Filipino girl group 4th Power have renamed themselves 4th Impact. The four sisters Almira, Irene, Mylene and Celina Cercado revealed the name change on The Xtra Factor, a companion show of The X Factor UK.
Producers of the reality singing programme apparently advised the group to change their name after a copyright claim from another group, though no details were provided.
Eldest sister Almira, 27, said of their new group name: “We were used to 4th Power. When fans were taking pictures with us, they were always like, ‘Can we be 5th Power or 6th Power?’ We still want to maintain the ‘four’.”
The sisters made their first appearance as 4th Impact on the breakfast programme Good Morning Britain on Monday.
“What was it like getting the whole reaction you got?” presenter Charlotte Hawkins asked them. “Because as soon as people heard you sing for the first time, immediately everyone was saying, ‘They’re gonna win.’ There’s that real buzz.”
Almira replied: “Hearing that we’re the favourites is flattering because we never expected this warm welcome from the UK.”
The sisters also revealed that their hometown of Isabela, a province in northern Philippines, has been hit by Typhoon Koppu this week.
“I think there is no electricity in our hometown,” said Almira. “We know from posts from our relatives that their roofs have literally gone off and there are floods everywhere. Their houses are destroyed. I think they are safe — we are thankful for that.”
She added: "Now we are experiencing this glamour on X Factor but then our relatives there are experiencing that. It's very heartbreaking."
4th Impact have made it to X Factor's top 24. This weekend will feature a round dubbed as Judges' Houses, where the acts will battle it out for a place on the live shows.
“We are nervous,” said Almira of the forthcoming eliminations. “No words can express how we feel.”

Five years ago, Uber launched in the Middle East. It was the start of an incredible journey, with millions of riders and drivers finding new ways to move and work in a dynamic region that’s become so important to Uber. Now Pakistan is one of our fastest-growing markets in the world, women are driving with Uber across Saudi Arabia, and we chose Cairo to launch our first Uber Bus product late last year.
Today we are taking the next step in this journey—well, it’s more like a leap, and a big one: in a few minutes, we’ll announce that we’ve agreed to acquire Careem. Importantly, we intend to operate Careem independently, under the leadership of co-founder and current CEO Mudassir Sheikha. I’ve gotten to know both co-founders, Mudassir and Magnus Olsson, and what they have built is truly extraordinary. They are first-class entrepreneurs who share our platform vision and, like us, have launched a wide range of products—from digital payments to food delivery—to serve consumers.
I expect many of you will ask how we arrived at this structure, meaning allowing Careem to maintain an independent brand and operate separately. After careful consideration, we decided that this framework has the advantage of letting us build new products and try new ideas across not one, but two, strong brands, with strong operators within each. Over time, by integrating parts of our networks, we can operate more efficiently, achieve even lower wait times, expand new products like high-capacity vehicles and payments, and quicken the already remarkable pace of innovation in the region.
This acquisition is subject to regulatory approval in various countries, which we don’t expect before Q1 2020. Until then, nothing changes. And since both companies will continue to largely operate separately after the acquisition, very little will change in either teams’ day-to-day operations post-close. Today’s news is a testament to the incredible business our team has worked so hard to build.
It’s a great day for the Middle East, for the region’s thriving tech sector, for Careem, and for Uber.

Where to donate in the UAE
You can donate to several registered charities through a “donation catalogue”. The use of the donation is quite specific, such as buying a fan for a poor family in Niger for Dh130.
The General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments

It is currently running a campaign called Bookings 2030, which allows people to help change the future of six underprivileged children and young people.
Those who travel on Emirates have undoubtedly seen the little donation envelopes in the seat pockets. But the foundation also accepts donations online and in the form of Skywards Miles. Donated miles are used to sponsor travel for doctors, surgeons, engineers and other professionals volunteering on humanitarian missions around the world.
On the Emirates Red Crescent website you can choose between 35 different purposes for your donation, such as providing food for fasters, supporting debtors and contributing to a refugee women fund. It also has a list of bank accounts for each donation type.
Gulf for Good raises funds for partner charity projects through challenges, like climbing Kilimanjaro and cycling through Thailand. What is Genes in Space?
Genes in Space is an annual competition first launched by the UAE Space Agency, The National and Boeing in 2015.
It challenges school pupils to design experiments to be conducted in space and it aims to encourage future talent for the UAE’s fledgling space industry.
